Clasp support
Private messaging for people who've met.
How do I add someone?
Meet them. Both open Add contact: one shows their code, the other scans it, then swap. Clasp has no phone numbers or usernames, so nobody can find or message you without meeting you.
How do I move Clasp to a new iPhone?
Keep your old iPhone until you've moved. On the new iPhone, install Clasp and tap Moving from another iPhone?. On the old one, open the menu (☰) and choose Move to a new phone, then scan the code the new phone shows. Check the 4-digit number matches on both phones.
Your identity, contacts, chats, groups, notes, Vault and settings move across, and photos and videos too if you choose. Everything is encrypted on the old phone so only the new one can open it. When the move is done, Clasp is erased from the old phone. Keep both phones open, unlocked, online and near each other until it finishes.
I lost my phone. Can I get my chats back?
No. Chats, notes and keys are kept only on your phone, encrypted, and there's no cloud copy, so nobody, including us, can restore them. Install Clasp on your new phone and add your contacts again in person.
What is "Clasp Demo"?
A contact that runs on our server, so you can try Clasp without meeting anyone. Open the demo page on a computer and scan its code with Clasp. Because it runs on the server, don't send it anything private.
A group member says "not met in person"
In a group, the person who made it can add people you haven't met. You can talk to them inside the group only: no private chats or calls. If you later meet and scan each other's codes, they become a normal contact.
Report a problem or abuse
Email [email protected]. You can block any contact from their contact page; blocked people can't reach you and aren't told.
